Singing

Dane has really been into singing lately or as he calls it "ding" same as he calls swing and slide. You have to use the context. At church on Sunday I was stopped outside of the nursery talking and he kept on pointing at the auditorium insistently repeating ding, ding, ding. Once I finally tuned into what he was saying realized he wanted to go in and sing. Something he has never really done with us before, he is just too noisy. I think he was remembering from VBS that we go in there to sing.

So after Sunday school I went in and got him for the morning service so he could 'sing' with everyone else. He had been telling the nursery workers all morning he wanted to 'ding' they hadn't been able to figure out what he was talking about. I figure I can't sing worth anything let alone remember the words to songs, so the more exposure to good singing and music he gets the better.

I was so surprised he was so good during the worship service he even tried to sing moving is mouth like everyone else even letting out some sweet soft little sounds with his baby singing voice. I love those sweet moments.

More about Dane

Favorite letter: 'I' Yesterday he sat really well for an hour and a half at the DMV while both Andy and I got our licenses updated. They had an automated number paging system, and the counters were labeled by a letter in the alphabet. "number 546 please come to counter 'I'" and Dane would echo so loudly 'I'. A few people sitting around us would giggle at him. I love how he says/pronounces it.

Favorite number: 9 special thanks to the Wiggles Dr. Knickerbocker Song Number 9. Dane now notices anytime the word nine is mentioned in conversation. He is not a TV watcher but for what ever reason the Wiggles have captured his attention. We don't have any DVD's but he will sit beside me quite awhile as long as I keep the you tube clips moving for him.

Favorite pose to imitate: the folding of the arms. He will observe any stranger standing with their arms crossed and he will so slyly with a smirk, cross his arms and stare at the stranger hoping they notice.

Favorite sound to mimic: Ummm. If you find your self saying "umm" as you are trying to gather your thoughts this little booger will be echoing "umm" with a huge smile on his face. Especially if it distracts you from what you are trying to say. He is such a little tease.

While he loves taking baths, he is not so fond of getting wet outside, especially if his clothes or sandals get wet. Actually he will cry if he steps into wet grass. My mom thinks that would be an easy way to keep him contained just hose down an area that is off limits and he will stay away. ha. I have been working on getting him in his little pool. Should have bought a bigger one since I have found myself sitting in it trying to convince him it is ok to get your swimsuit wet.

We found out today he will be needing to get tubes in his ears. He is on his third ear infection since the middle of May. I guess we better start practicing with those ear plugs.

Don't want to forget

I have found myself looking back through my blog trying to recall details of something and it reminded me of how helpful and fun it was to remember Dane even a year ago. So I thought I would write down a few more things he has been up to lately. I can't believe he is 19 months old already, he seems so grown up at times and at other times still so little.

One of the funniest things lately, is meal preparation time. That time in this house is usually miserable because of all the whining and fit throwing because the food isn't available immediately. One day after a bunch of whining, I realized he had his stubbly little arms crossed and his lip pooched out. The classic pouting pose it was pretty stinkin' cute, and at least he wasn't whining. I continued to go about making dinner and I noticed he disappeared. We have one of those fun houses where you can do laps (the boys are going to love playing chase there someday). He can pass through the kitchen, then dining room, then entryway, a hallway and back to the kitchen. I was relieved he seemed to have found something else to do for a few minutes. Then the next thing I know he was back marching through the kitchen arms crossed lip pooched out. That little booger was still pouting. He left the kitchen again and I hear running feet and peek around the corner to see him sprinting a lap back around to the kitchen where he immediately slowed down, crossed his arms and stuck out his lower lip. That has now become the new routine every time I go to get a meal ready. Pout where mommy can see him and run fast once mommy is out of sight. The pout has turned into an ornery smile with his arms crossed though so it has become more of a fun game to play. He still loves to tease me, if I say "umm" as I am trying to think of something I usually hear "ummmm (giggle, giggle)"echoing me right back.

He really isn't and never has been attached to a stuffed animal or blanket. He really could care less to even play with a stuffed animal. This little animal in the picture has always been in his crib and he does like to be tucked in with (enter kissing sounds here) before a nap or bedtime. Yeah that's right it doesn't have a name it is just referred to as (smooching sounds). I thought it was sweet the other day after his nap he insisted that (smoochy sounds) stay with him.

Right now all the boy wants to do is play outside or play with a ball. He hardly ever gets any other toys out unless he is in the mood to "dump" I usually know it's coming because I hear " dump, dump" as he is trying to tip something over and spill the contents and leave them behind.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the greatest dad in the world! Dane must think so too because he wanted daddy to do everything for him today, even put him down for a nap. Just helping prove his daddy is the greatest!

Pregnancy update

As typical the second time around I am hardly getting any belly pictures. I have posed for a picture twice to date. I think I look about the same as last time, I probably popped out a little sooner due to the lack of muscle holding things back, but that is fine. I actually had a guy at the mall yesterday tell me I looked like I was about to pop. Really!? I have a long way to go still. Hopefully I won't 'pop' yet, this little guy needs some time to grow so he can be nice and healthy, but hopefully a tad smaller than his brother, it would be nice for this momma.

I have been feeling him wiggle and squirm since around 14 weeks I do enjoy that feeling. Now I can actually watch him do his jumping jacks and stretches and I love actually being able to feel a baby when I press on my stomach. So far the second trimester has flown by, I have only a couple weeks left and then third trimester time. While I would love to get this whole house painted and just how I want it, I am trying to be practical and I have only 2 rooms at the top of my list that I want completed before the arrival of our newest member.

Dane knows there's a baby in mommy's tummy. Though if you ask him where the baby is, he is at times confused as to which lump is the baby.

Remember way back when, when I did a little lamp shade project?

Well the other $1 lamp and shade turned back up during the move. I had been ignoring it looking for a new shade to go with the base. If my memory serves me right I really really think that the shade was squashed a bit. No longer the perfectly round shape it ought to be. That is why it was shoved to the back of the closet and it didn't get fixed up, and that is why I was looking for a new shade. Because I just KNOW it was definitely not round like it should be. I swear it miracuosly became round after it moved to our new house. I have no idea how that happened because I KNOW it was squashed before the move. Usually it is the other way around, something is round and it gets squashed during the move, but not this tricky lamp. It was squashed and got round during the move. So I went out bought some fabric and now I have another new lamp for under $5. I love it when things work out.

And now that I am done with all the important tasks for the day, maybe I will see about getting the laundry and grocery shopping done.

Today is a special day

Today I have been married to the man I fell in love with for 7 years! And he still treats me like his princess. I try to never take for granted all that he does for me. He is such an example to me and our family. I love how he works so hard to take care of us and has such a servants heart. I love you! Can't wait to grow old with you!

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Can you believe this the ONLY picture I took while my parents and little brother were for the holiday weekend? I guess between 3 ear infections and a high fever and being a not the greatest host I didn't remember to get my camera out. Good thing we are going to visit them tomorrow :o)

Not Boring Anymore

Here are the before pictures.

Ignore the messy not organized shelves. That stuff has just found a temporary resting place out of harms (Dane's) way.

I painted my first room last night. You can't fault it for being cheerful. I wonder how long it will take for me to get tired of it? I think the names of paint colors can sway me, the color choice was 'soothing green tea', though I think it is more lively than soothing. It is definitely not boring anymore.

Again I have pictures to hang on the walls, I am thinking a collage of black frames, and we have a matching love seat coming our way eventually. I was too anxious to post something instead of waiting to get all the last touches done.

We had a decorating lady come into MOPS the Friday before we moved. She gave me some inspiration on decorating. My problem is I like most everything. If I walk into a well coordinated home I instantly love it and wish I could get that same look. So my problem is narrowing down 'the look'. I did narrow down that I like the cool colors, blues and greens. And through a fun little quiz in my Real Simple Magazine I decided I am best described as Cozy Casual. Now how do I achieve that look?

This is our front room/dining room (we need to come up with a good name for it). The previous owner accented in burgundy/plum but once I got that out of there I really liked the wall color. Anyway I really like the feel of this room. The color went well with the light blueish things I already had.
