Pretending

I took him in last week to get his picture taken at The Picture People since I have like 7 offers for a free 8x10 no obligations. I did just that, and of course they came out cute. I wish I could have had more prints, but I was not even tempted at about $15 a sheet. Maybe I am cheap but I know at Target and JCPennys and Sears you can use a coupon and get them for $3.99 a sheet. I thought about taking him somewhere else with the same outfit instead I tried to take some myself. I am totally a wannabe, and realize the quality isn't that great, but they turned out good enough that I may get some prints in the wallet size from Walgreens.

playtime?

Apparently Magnum finds little children that aren't supposed to be walking a little creepy. I was trying out Dane's walking reflex and next thing I know Magnum is going berserk trying to play with Dane.

Happy St. Patty's Day

This morning I got up and realized we are going to have to start putting the side rail up on the crib since Dane was now resting his feet on top of the rail despite being swaddled. I have also seen him pop right out of his carseat if he is left unbuckled so what's stopping him from trying it in his crib?

snow?

I am sitting here in Colorado, I had been hoping to enjoy some of the 70 degree weather they have been bragging about all winter, but I am starting to think they were lying ;o) Just a ploy to get me out for a visit. Though it isn't all that cold, there is still about four inches of snow on the ground, but it is nice to spend some time with family for the week.

ears.

I am so tired of going to the doctor pretty much every day this week. Funny thing is most of the appointments have been for me. The pharmacist even knows me by name now. I took Dane in this morning for a list of questions and wanted to make sure he didn't have thrush. Well poor little guy has an ear infection and sore throat. So that explains the fussiness this week. I thought he was just 'off schedule' a bit. I guess I should have known with the fussiness because last week was amazingly easy and he was so super happy and giggly. So now I feel like a bad mom I didn't even know he was really sick, no temp I did check that several times. I am guessing the ears have been bothering him since Monday. So far he is proving to handle sickness like a champ, but that can be scary if he doesn't give me more clues that he isn't feeling well. Bad news is my ears are starting to hurt again. I will find out tomorrow if they are any better. At least I am hearing better for now. Hopefully we will be all set to leave tomorrow for Megan's wedding that is in a glass chapel - sounds like so much fun and looking forward to visiting with family and all the new babies. Then on to Colorado!

I just peeked at Dane and that is not at all how I laid him down pretty much the 180 degree flip around and only his head is left on the blanket I had set him in the middle. Kinda weird when you expect them to be in the same place.

Runza Casserole

We have really been enjoying this simple recipe this winter. I think I may add it to my list of comfort foods. One of the last times we went to Colorado, we stopped at a Runza fast food restaurant in Nebraska. A nice change from the usual quick burger joint or Subway. We found it to be quite tasty! So here it is in casserole form...

Runza Casserole
2 lbs. hamburger
2 onions, chopped
4 c. shredded cabbage
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
1 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Use 9"x13" pan. Begin to brown hamburger and onion for a few minutes in a large pan and add cabbage to steam. Spread 1 tube of crescent rolls over bottom of pan. Spread meat on top and add cheese. Place second tube on top and pinch together again. Bake 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cover last 10 minutes to soften crust. Perfect for Runza lovers and so much easier than making individual ones.

Month 4

The months are flying by way to quickly. Where is that little newborn I had not so long ago? This past week I felt like he grew up a bunch, all of a sudden more observant. He even started noticing that I am holding him, by craning his little neck around to see who is up there. He also found his feet last week. And he is laughing so much easier now. I put him in a walker this month and it seems like every time I put him in it he would figure out something new, like how to turn the steering wheel, he was oh so proud of himself. One evening I put him in it while I was trying to make dinner and he backed it up about fifteen feet through the dining room. Really I didn't expect my little guy to be able to move so far. I love watching him learn new things and to see the wheels turning as he is figuring out something new. It really is amazing!
-A week ago he was weighing in at 15lbs 9oz.
